A recent project involved the installation of Karndean Van Gogh VGW53T Wellington Oak luxury vinyl tiles (LVTs) in a hallway. The planks, each measuring 48″x7″, were selected for their realistic wood appearance and durability, making them an excellent choice for high-traffic areas like hallways.

Before the installation could begin, the existing subfloors were modified by another contractor to incorporate an underfloor water-heated system. This modification necessitated a perfectly level and smooth subfloor to ensure optimal performance and adherence of the LVTs. To achieve this, a layer of Ardex NA was applied across the entire subfloor. This high-quality leveling compound created a fresh, clean, and even surface, ideal for the installation of luxury vinyl tiles.

Ardex NA was allowed to dry overnight, ensuring a completely dry and stable base for the new flooring. The next day, the Karndean Van Gogh Wellington Oak planks were meticulously fitted to the prepared subfloor. A high-temperature adhesive, specifically designed to handle the demands of underfloor heating systems, was used to secure the LVTs in place. This adhesive not only provided a strong bond but also ensured that the flooring could withstand the thermal expansion and contraction caused by the underfloor heating.

The project covered an area of approximately 7 square meters, and careful attention was given to the layout and alignment of the planks to achieve a seamless and visually appealing finish. The result is a stunning hallway floor that combines the natural beauty of wood with the practicality and durability of luxury vinyl, perfectly complementing the home’s interior design while providing a warm and comfortable surface underfoot.
