A recent flooring project at Lymden Gardens, Reigate, Surrey, involved the installation of Karndean “Knight Tile” Honey Limed Oak KP155 luxury vinyl tiles (LVTs) in a kitchen. Each plank, measuring 6″x36″, was chosen for its attractive, natural wood look and durability, ideal for a kitchen environment.

The project spanned two days. Initially, the existing flooring, which consisted of ceramic tiles, needed to be addressed. To create a smooth and even base suitable for the LVT installation, a layer of Ardex NA, a high-quality leveling compound, was applied over the entire area. This step was crucial to ensure that the new flooring would adhere properly and perform well over time. The Ardex NA was left to dry overnight, forming a perfectly leveled surface.

On the following day, the Karndean Knight Tile Honey Limed Oak planks were carefully fitted to the prepared subfloor. A high-temperature adhesive, specifically formulated to handle the demands of a kitchen environment, was used to secure the LVTs in place. This adhesive ensures a strong bond, even in areas where temperature fluctuations and moisture are common.

After the flooring was installed, all appliances, including washing machines, were reinstalled to their original positions. The project covered approximately 20 square meters, and attention to detail was paramount to ensure a seamless and aesthetically pleasing finish.

Upon completion, the floor was handed back to the customer, showcasing a beautiful and functional kitchen floor that combines the charm of natural wood with the practicality and resilience of luxury vinyl tiles. The result is a stylish and durable flooring solution that enhances the overall look and functionality of the kitchen.
